| Format:
Format 4 sections, Single Round Robin, all entrants evenly divided between sections, placement within each section determined by lot. The top four players in the club who wish to skip the Qualifiers are seeded to the Finals directly, invitations to be extended to the top players in order of rating until four seeded players are identified. The top two players in each section will join the four seeded players in the Finals. All other players, including high rated players who were offered and declined seeding, must play in this tournament to qualify for the Finals. Players who do not qualify for the Finals may play in the Championship Reserves tournaments, occurring simultaneously with the Finals. There will be a separate section for those players rated 1500 and under who do not want to play in the Qualifier. 40/85, Sudden Death/30; 5 second time delay |
| Event Description:
Registration Registration will end promptly at 7:25 p.m. on October 27. All invitations for seeding directly into the Finals must be accepted by November 4. Playing schedules will be distributed to all players no later than the start of Round 2. Bye Policy Byes will not be given for this tournament. There will be a week at the end of the tournament for make-up games. If you cannot make a scheduled game, you must contact the tournament directors and your opponent to make arrangements to make up the game during that week. Organizers will delay the tournament as needed in the case of inclement weather. Entry Fee $15, $13 for students or seniors 50 and older. Club membership is required. There will be additional fees for the Finals and Reserves tournaments. Prizes There are no prizes for this tournament except qualification for the Finals. |

| December 1, 2009 Greetings, fellow chess players: Here are the final results, with prizes, in the Under 1500 Section of the 2009 NBCC Championship Qualifying Tournament. This was a separate sectioned tournament held concurrently with the general preliminary event. Congratulations to John Twombley and George Himes III for winning the event. Of significant note, this is John's first time winning a major tournament at the NBCC. Excellent job, John! The tournament was directed by NBCC Chief Tournament Director, Randy Shane. He will be submitting the results to the USCF for rating today, December 12, and will be be presenting the awards on Tuesday, December 15. Thanks to all who played in this section.
