September 10, 2009
Greetings, once again, fellow chess players: Final results, including prizes to the winners, of the 1st - 2009 New Britain Summer Games Chess Club held at the New Britain Chess Club from August 11 through September, are reported below from Randy Shane. Thanks to Chief Tournament Director Randy Shane and Assistant Tournament Directors Emily Pond and Douglas Pence (this was his first tournament as TD) for doing a fantastic job as the event directors. Thanks also to El Presidente' Joseph Mansigian for developing the ideas and preparing the overall framework for this new annual club event. The prizes will be distributed to the winners next Tuesday, September 15. Randy Shane submitted this tournament to the USCF for rating this evening. Congratulations to the winners FM Nelson Castaneda, and two of our youngest members, Danny Pascetta and Leonid Stolov and Doug Pence, for winning their respective sections. This is Doug's time earning first place in a major club tournament. Have a wonderful weekend.
