New Britain Chess Club member Danny Rozovsky at the 2009 Pan American Youth tournament. For winning the Under 14 age category at this very prestigious event, this young and inspiring superstar took home a gold medal and had his picture featured in the December 2009 issue of Chess Life.
In addition to his cool photo, the editors published a game that Danny played, and which he also co-commentated, against Oscar Zavarce. Please refer to the article on pages 31 through 35, "U.S. Chess Kids Rock Argentina!" In the article, Danny told reporters about the ways in which he believes people can excel in the game. Danny eloquently said that:
"One thing that is important to understand is to take it easy, meaning, don't get down on yourself just because you played some bad chess or were beaten. Focus on one game at a time. Remember to fight for every match and do the best you can do. Always understand that you are playing against the board not the man. Don't forget to work hard on the weak points of your game because that is where you usually lose the game. Repeat this to yourself in your head when you are struggling: 'Never give up, never give up'."
~ Danny Rozovsky
On behalf of the entire chess community, congratulations again FM Danny for your outstanding performance at the Pan American Youth event and best of luck in your future chess endeavors.
